Blog Schedule?

I've been noticing that a lot of people have a kind of schedule for their blog..usually with catchy little names like "Fun Fridays"-the day I show you something fun! or "Tasty Thursdays"- the day I tell you about something tasty! When I used to just read blogs occasionally and not write or really keep up with any in particular, I thought that was soooooo annoying...but now I think I understand the reason. I've only just started blogging but I feel like things are a a little helter skelter and all over the place. I know that it's good to have some organization, and something your readers can look forward to. Also, It would be nice to know what kind of topic you were going to post about and be able to plan ahead a bit. On the other hand, I don't want to have to scour the Internet looking for an inspiring picture for "Without Words Wednesdays" (-the day I post a picture, without words!) if I don't feel like it.

So, basically, I am undecided on the idea of a schedule. I could use some other opinions!

What are your thoughts on blog schedules? Do you use them? As a reader, do you find them fun? helpful? annoying?

  1. There are quite a few bloggers out there with schedules, and I guess it makes posting easier, because the task then seems less daunting. Personally I doubt I would actually stick to it, but I think it's a pretty good idea :)

  2. I think they can be really helpful....but its not something I can stick to 100%...I have a little thing on Mondays...but ...this Monday I had to its helpful and not always perfect..but I think thats ok :)

  3. they can be helpful but i don't use one. I mean there are certain post that i do every week but i do them when i feel like it. Like i always have a shoe of the week o my left column and I always do the bad bish post during each week. everything else just flows. it should be about what you think is helpful. try it out and see.

  4. hahaha! I love this post! The only schedule I really have is for Wednesday. I call that day "hair washing day". It takes so long for me to wash my hair that I can't do a long involved post. Instead I usually just post something funny about the daunting task of washing my hair.

Perhaps you could come up with a new schedule. Maybe you could blog every other day so that your readers will anticipate your posts that much more... I dunno, but you are so creative, I know you will come up with something amazing!

  5. thanks for all of the input everyone..I'm still thinking about this one!

  6. well if you have a fashion or a beauty blog that might work but for any other blogger... im not so sure...
Actually I follow one blog that gives me on Wednesday a horoscope and it's pretty accurate for my life so I like this idea!

I thought myself about "Without Words Wednesdays"... but still I'm not quite sure.

  7. I've toyed with the idea because I do kind of like consistency in my life...but I can also be impulsive, LOL. Also, some weeks I post every weekday and others just M, W, I don't know. It's only been a few weeks for us...I'm sure we'll figure it out :)

  8. a lot of people i read do "wordless wednesdays" where they just post pictures, or "Foto (purposely spelled wrong) Fridays". i don't really have a schedule because i don't have one specific topic that i write about, but i do have tuesdays designated as the days i post music (i call them Tuesday Tunage) and fridays have become my Flickr Friday, where i post pictures from my favourites on flickr, because nobody really reads blogs on friday anyway, haha.

so i guess my verdict would be that if you need a little bit of direction, maybe schedule one or two days a week for something in particular and keep it consistent. otherwise, i really like your blog :)

  9. Dude, I'm totally not into that either. Once I feel like I HAVE to post something, the fun is gone. I have a friend that does it and it sounds like more than anything, people search those words and find her blog, so she got a ton of followers because of it. I don't think she does it for the 'schedule' but more so to attract more followers. I say, do what you want and don't let anyone tell you any differently... unless that person is me. Do whatever I say! JK! (Can you tell I was a first born? )

    Happy Saturday!

  10. I do Friday Fill-Ins. Every Thursday, a new one is posted. All you do is copy and paste into your blog. Check it out here:

I agree that one or two blog schedules is ok - but I know some people who have one for every day, and that's a little much. You need to do what you feel most comfortable with.

I would love to hear from you!
